When providing support to our patients facing ethical dilemmas, it is important that we acknowledge their needs for coming to a decision. We have talked about how we support patients many times, in the case its important that we as healthcare workers give them all the medical information that they need to make an informed decision. We need to insure that they understand the things that we are telling them. After we have done that we need to ask them how we can help them, and what resources that they may need such as; a person of religion, social worker, case manager, family involvement, speciality or more consultations to go over information. All of these factors are dependent on the individual. If I was to be in an ethical dilemma, I would want the provider and nurse to inform me of all possible options and outcomes. If I was unable to come to a conclusion myself, I would seek help from thoes closest to me. Opinions on the topic and support from those closest to me is how I would be able to make my choice.
